Software Engineer - Web Operations
We are seeking a dynamic and highly knowledgeable individual for our Software Engineer position. This position entails maintaining, building, and designing our IT infrastructure. The candidate must be comfortable working with an IT infrastructure that operates 24/7.
Role and Responsibilities
- Advise, plan, build, and maintain our highly scalable IT infrastructure
- Configure and use the latest monitoring tools to maintain maximum uptime
- Serve in an on-call capacity; ready to resolve a variety of issues that may arise 24/7
- Devise automated processes that minimize manual needs
- Provide insights on current infrastructure performance while planning for future requirements
- Devise and implement highly secure practices, auditing, and hacking detection strategies and systems
- Handle disaster recovery practices and documentation; devise server backup and recovery strategies
- Contact IT vendors directly for various services and hardware
Qualifications
- BS or MS Degree in computer science, systems engineering or related field
- 10+ years of software development, software systems development, system engineering, and systems architecture experience
- 8+ years of multi-tiered web application architecture experience
- 8+ years of support and development of production systems using Linux, Java, JSP, servlets, JBoss, Tomcat, web services, and databases like PostgreSQL or Oracle
- Proficiency with Java, JavaScript, JDBC, JQuery, JAXB, SQL, Hibernate, and XML
- Experience with 3rd Party API Integration (web services, etc.)
- Object-oriented capabilities with an understanding of concepts
- Deep knowledge of the product development life cycle
- Distributed systems architecture, web services, Unix/Linux, Apache/Tomcat, and Eclipse IDE experience.
- System interfaces to private and public vendors for credit experience.
- Background check database systems experience (criminal, etc.) is a plus
- Full grasp of NFS, Ruby-on-Rails, replication, Rack and Blade servers, NetApp NAS, Subversion, TCP/IP, SSL, Unix Shell scripting, Apache, Netscaler, Linux, and automation tools
